Autobody repair. Your questions answered.

Here at Dinks, we get a lot of questions about our car body repair services. To help you along your repair journey, we’ve put together answers for the most common questions we get.

What types of car body damage can be repaired?

All damage, within reason, can be repaired! When you book a repair with us, our estimator will carry out an assessment of the damage before giving you an estimated cost. If our estimator decides that the panel is beyond repair, or would be far too costly to be reasonable, we can look into sourcing and fitting a replacement panel for you. If we do decide that a replacement is needed, you can rest assured that we only use OEM replacement parts.

How long does it take to repair car body damage?

Depending on the nature and severity of the damage, we can turnaround most repairs within two to three days. What’s more, we can also provide you with a courtesy car whilst your car is in our care!

What factors can affect the cost of car body repairs?

There are some factors that can majorly affect the cost of your body repair, the biggest factors to consider are:

  • The make and model of your vehicle

  • Vehicle age

  • If the vehicle is an EV or hybrid

  • Whether new parts are required

  • Severity of the damage

  • Location of the damage

  • If specialist equipment is needed

Another key factor to note is that any vehicle manufactured after 2016 are fitted with an ADAS system, during repairs, recalibration of this system is essential inflating the cost of repairs.

Can body damage affect the structural integrity of my car?

Yes. RTA’s, (road traffic accidents), can cause the integrity of your vehicle to be affected however this is dependent upon a multitude of factors which will be assessed during the estimating phase. The vehicle's structural integrity can also be affected by not addressing bodywork issues such as corrosion. Corrosion can affect all structural components and if not addressed and maintained can weaken areas making them more prone to collapse and further damage should an RTA occur.

Should I go to an authorized dealership for body repairs or choose an independent repair shop?

This is completely your choice! Here at Dinks, all of our repairs are carried out to the Manufacturers Specifications meaning you keep your warranty with the main dealer and receive the highest quality service and repairs.

Do I need to notify my insurance company before getting car body repairs?

You only need to notify your insurance company if you would like to make a claim. If you do decide to rectify any damage privately, there is no obligation to notify your insurance company.

Can you provide a warranty or guarantee for the body repair work?

Yes! All of our repairs are covered by a twelve month warranty. If you aren’t satisfied with our workmanship, don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us!
